A major goal: CO2-neutrality!

Our second contribution to greater sustainability - alongside the production of Green Chemicals - is to improve our carbon footprint. This affects many processes that we will optimize in the long term. Chemical plants emit CO2 primarily through energy consumption in production.

To measure emissions, LEVACO follows the calculation standards of the chemical industry's „Together for Sustainability“ (TfS) guideline, which are instrumental in bringing alignment and clarity to the measurement of the emissions impacts of chemical products. This harmonizes PCF calculation approaches across the industry, making the climate impact of products directly comparable in the future.

"As a chemical company, we emit CO2 through our energy consumption in production, transportation, etc.. We will reduce these emissions by, among other things, using the available energy as efficiently as possible. This includes investing in more energy-efficient equipment and measuring our carbon footprint in accordance with the TfS-guideline."

Marius J. L. Mühlenberg (CEO)

LEVACO has already set out on the path to greater sustainability. With investments in more energy-efficient systems, such as the replacement of ball float steam traps with Venturi tube steam traps or new heating cabinets, LEVACO has been able to reduce energy consumption by more than 20% and significantly lower CO2 emissions.

As a member of the „Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil“ (RSPO), LEVACO supports the sustainable cultivation of palm oil and thus the stop of deforestation for the cultivation of palm oil or reforestation.
